What about his own experience?

He faced the same problem during his preparation days. He will tell you what He did to counter this. Try to use these things and most probably it would be beneficial for you too.

According to him, you should be thankful that you are aware and bold enough to admit your shortcomings. Many of us don't even understand how excessive phone usage is draining our youth.

What Steps taken by you?

Sit down for a few minutes and close your eyes. Think about how phone usage is hindering your performance and what exactly do you do on phone. Take a paper and write what exactly are you doing on phone. If you write this honestly, most of you would have something similar written on paper:-

(1) Chatting on various whatsapp groups.

(2) Chatting and doing babu-shona with your GF/BF/potential GF-BF.

(3) Watching funny videos/memes on YouTube/FB.

(4) Browsing through Quora and reading answers to questions like How was your first night after marriage, what are the best funny screenshots you have in your phone, How different is your spouse from you, how to impress girls etc.

(5) Watching Web series.

(6) Stalking your  love interest on Facebook/instagram.

These are some common things but 90% of your phone usage is around this only.

How to tackle this?

Before he explain you the techniques and tools to counter your problem, it is necessary to get to the root of it. He knows most of you know this already but anyways:-

(1) These web series, YouTube videos will be there after your selection too. After your results, you can binge watch all of those in less than 2 weeks itself. What's the point of wasting your precious time if you can watch them later too?

(2) No comments on doing Babu shona or stalking your Ex. You won't be able to hold them anyway if you don't get selected. But answer just one question to yourself. Before this girl/boy, how many other boys/girls were there with whom you talked for exactly the same amount of time with all this same passion and now they are not even in touch with you? It is to be hoped that you will have a number for this. Who will account for all that time wasted on those people from whom you or they have moved on? Where would you have been if you had utilised even half of that time on productive purposes?

Now coming to the techniques to be used:-

(1) You can use 'keep me out' app. Don't use it much in day time because some day there would be situation where you will be needing your phone very urgently but won't be able to use it.
You might end up dropping this app permanently after such situations. The key is to minimise phone usage a couple of hours before sleeping and couple of hours after getting up.
After setting switch on time and alarm for morning, hr used to switch on 'keep me out' app at around 9-10pm for like 13-14 hours and switch off the phone.
After studying till 12-1 AM, he used to sleep by 8-9 AM.  Meanwhile phone will reboot 5 minutes prior to alarm bell (due to that setting of auto switch on) and alarm would wake me up. Even then, he wouldn't be able to use keep him out for a couple of more hours. This helped him immensely.
You might be thinking that switching off phone for 13-14 hours is the tough task but see, out of this time, 7-8 hours were of sleep and 1 hour of doing regular chores in morning. Also, he picked this time when he know there won't be any urgent call. You can modify it as per your will and schedule.

(2) You might be needing internet for your study purposes. For that, rather than checking it out immediately on internet, simply write your doubts on last page of your notebook. Check all that after a couple of hours. It will save time and you won't be touching your phone again and again.

(3) If you are switching off phone while studying at night (say from 9 to 11pm), don't use it after 11pm while lying on bed in preparation of sleep. Strict No for this. If you want to reward yourself for studying well, use it in morning only. You won't even realise how much disruption to your sleep and study flow you are doing while using phone just before sleeping.

(4) The basic principle is, you got to have something going on in your life. If you are doing Babu shona and binge watching out of loneliness, then I would suggest you to go for a walk or a run for 30-60 minutes. Not only will it help you to freshen your mind but also give good vibes. It will help you immensely in studies.

(5) Try to replace whatsapp chat with phone calls. You can save huge amount of time by simply doing this thing. You can utilise walking time for calling.

(6) Keep your phone in other room or locked drawer while studying. Don't think like it's stupid as I can pick it up anytime from other room. Just do it for few days and you will see the difference.

(7) Move on from stupid whatsapp chats and all that. Sometimes it's ok but not always.

(8) Moderate your binge watching tendencies. Eliminate them slowly. No need to be harsh on yourself in beginning. You wouldn't like to run out of gas in first week itself. While doing all that babu shona, ask yourself "How will your mother feel like if she get to know all this?". Don't argue by saying that you are too smart and your mother would never get to know anything. Self honesty is the key.

How much time it takes to implement?

If you use these simple tricks for only a week, you will notice how much time you have in your hands. These steps might be tough for only a couple of days and you will start enjoying these things later on.

Another thing is, you won't be able to implement these things (or your own ideas) fully from first week onwards. You would be able to do well for 4-5 days a week initially. That's perfectly fine. Just keep going and be consistent. Your focus will improve with time. Have faith in yourself. Don't expect some miraculous results from Day 1 itself.

Conclusion -

His inspiring lines -

Believe me when I say this. You all might be worried about how huge the competition is these days for all the exams. This is certainly true. But see, the mode of distractions have also increased substantially in last few years and most of the aspirants are stuck in them. If you can counter these distractions any how, you will gain that X-factor, that edge. That supposedly huge competition won't be able to stop you from getting successful if you can manage your distractions.

Thankyou for visiting and hope its helps you.

All the Best for upcoming exams.
